About this book

Please note that the ZSL has confirmed that due to the pandemic they have no access to their warehouse with stock. Supply is unlikely until the first quarter of 2021.

Divided into 3 main sections:

Section 1 contains 17 papers on Small Mammals in Captivity which reflect the diverse physiological and behavioural adaptations of a group of animals long neglected as zoo subjects including mongooses, red pandas, beavers, prairie dogs, shrews, treeshrews, mouse lemurs, hutias, tenrecs and neotropical bats.
Section 2 contains 73 papers on breeding, husbandry, hand-rearing, building and exhibits, conservation and education.
Finally, section 3 lists the vertebrate species bred in captivity during 1973, where each was bred and which were offspring of captive-born parents.
