About this book

Language: Spanish

The polychaete collection, part of the collection of invertebrates of the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales (MNCN), Spain, has experienced a rapid growth over the last twenty years, thanks to the research activity of many Spanish and foreign polychaetologists. The museum has established links of direct collaboration with more than thirty researchers, and as a result the polychaete collection today holds more than 60,000 specimens, divided over 50 families and about 1,120 species. Amongst this material are 2,000 type specimens, including 138 holotypes and almost 1,700 paratypes. This monograph is an effort to provide the scientific community with the relevant information about these types, which belong to almost 170 species and 30 different families.
