Moon-Related Population Dynamics and Ecology of the Stag Beetle Lucanus cervus, Other Beetles, Butterflies, Dragonflies and Other Insects contains three chapters: long-term population dynamics (in English), short-term population dynamics and swarming (in English) and protection measures (in German). The short-term and long-term population dynamics under the influence of the full moon and the new moon that have been obtained on stag beetles are here expanded to over 500 different insects, by analysing the author's own data and numerous papers from the scientific literature. This covers primarily beetles, butterflies and dragonflies, which are sorted in an alphabetical index of Latin names. All three chapters contain detailed summaries in English, German and French.

The stag beetle is a popular research subject in population dynamics and ecology, but for comparative purposes, and to be complete
a host of other insects was also examined. Observations from the literature, both on stag beetles and other insects were evaluated using a lunar calendar, calculator and evaluated for their correlation with the full moon or new moon, resulting in the fundamentally new approach of selenocyclic interpretation of short-term population dynamics. It has been shown in countless other examples that the full moon and new moon have a decisive influence on initiation and control of swarming and mass flight of insects. Comparative studies have also shown that the selenocyclic interpretation of population dynamics of insects can be applied to the mass growth of fungi and the mass migration of amphibians.

Das Buch enthält drei Kapitel: langfristige Populationsdynamik (in Englisch), kurzfristige Populationsdynamik und Schwärmverhalten (in Englisch) und Schutzmaßnahmen (in Deutsch). Die am Hirschkäfer erzielten Ergebnisse zur kurzfristigen und langfristigen Populationsdynamik unter dem Einfluß des Vollmondes und des Neumondes wurden durch Auswertung eigener Beobachtungen und zahlreicher Literaturdaten auf über 500 andere Insekten übertragen, welche hauptsächlich Käfer, Schmetterlinge und Libellen umfassen und in einem alphabetischen Register der lateinischen Namen geordnet sind. Alle drei Kapitel enthalten ausführliche Zusammenfassungen in Deutsch, Englisch und Französisch.

Der Hirschkäfer ist das Hauptinsekt und spielt die zentrale Rolle in der Auswertung der Populationsdynamik und Ökologie, aber zum Vergleich und zur Vervollständigung wurde auch eine Fülle anderer Insekten untersucht. Zahlreiche in der Literatur dokumentierte Beobachtungsdaten des Hirschkäfers und anderer Insekten wurden mit einem Mondkalender-Rechner ausgewertet und bezüglich ihrer Korrelation mit Vollmond oder Neumond ausgewertet, und daraus ist der fundamental neue Ansatz der selenozyklischen Interpretation der kurzfristigen Populationsdynamik der Insekten entstanden. Es hat sich an unzähligen Beispielen gezeigt, dass Vollmond und Neumond entscheidenden Einfluss auf Auslösung und Steuerung des Schwär­mens und Massenfluges von Insekten haben.
Vergleichende Untersuchungen haben ferner ergeben, dass die seleno­zyklische Interpretation der Populationsdynamik von Insekten auch auf das Massenwachstum von Pilzen und die Massenwanderung von Amphibien übertragen werden kann.
