About this book

Language: Spanish with bilingual keys in English and Spanish

This Monograph is devoted to the general characters of Bryozoa, coelomate, bentic, and mostly sessile and marine animals, and to the species of order Ctenostomata collected from the Ibero-Balearic waters. Forty-four species, included in 25 genera, 18 families and 8 superfamilies found in Ibero-Balearic localities, as well as other 22 species, included in 11 genera, 6 families and one superfamily reported from localities close to our waters, are deal with.

The book is illustrated with 94 figures and contains an introductory chapter to Bryozoa, followed by several chapters devoted to the study of their systematic position, classification, geographical distribution, morphology, natural history and techniques of study, with descriptions and dichotomical identification keys for species, genera and suprageneric taxa.

Also included in this volume are data on the geographical distribution and biology of each species as well as an updated bibliography. The book ends with 4 appendices containing a complete taxonomic nomenclature, and a list of Bryozoa Ctenostomata on both coasts of the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands (Appendix 1), dichotomous identification keys of the species treated in this volume (in Spanish and English) (Appendix 2), a glossary of morphological and anatomical terms (Appendix 3), and an updated compilation of bibliographical references including records of Bryozoa from Ibero-Balearic waters.
