This work deals with the Chinese fauna of two families of planthoppers, families Caliscelidae and Issidae. It consists of two sections, a general section and a taxonomic section. The general section introduces the historic review of classification, taxonomic systems, morphological characters, materials and methods, biology and economic importance, as well as geographical distribution of these planthoppers in China. In the taxonomic section, 74 genera and 253 species of the two families from China are described or redescribed. Among them, 13 genera and 45 species are new to science. Keys to the families, subfamilies and the Chinese genera and species are provided
